Ghanaian-Dutch forward Gabriel Misehouy struck late to hand Aris Thessaloniki a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kifisia in the Greek Super League on Saturday.
The 20-year-old, who began the match on the bench, was introduced in the 57th minute with the score still goalless.
Aris had dominated possession throughout but struggled to convert their control into clear-cut chances against a resilient Kifisia side.
The hosts were reduced to ten men in the first half after defender Diamantis Chouchoumis received a red card, yet they remained disciplined and difficult to break down. Aris pressed forward but were repeatedly frustrated, as Kifisia clung on in search of a point.
With only three minutes of regulation time remaining, the breakthrough finally arrived. Spanish full-back Álvaro Tejero threaded a precise pass into the box, which Misehouy latched onto before calmly slotting a low left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
The late strike sparked jubilant celebrations from Misehouy, who raced towards the away supporters to mark the decisive moment. For the young forward, it was not only a vital contribution for his team but also a significant personal highlight in his developing career.
Aris saw out the remaining minutes with composure, denying Kifisia any chance of a comeback. The result maintains Aris’ strong start to the season, while Kifisia were left to reflect on a spirited defensive display undone by one moment of quality.
Attention for Aris now shifts to their upcoming Greek Cup fixture against GS Marko on 23 September, as the club looks to build further momentum in both domestic competitions.
