German universities celebrate Egypt’s heritage with grand museum exhibition in Berlin

The German International University in Berlin, alongside its partners—the German University in Cairo and the German International University in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital—has launched a high-profile exhibition celebrating the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The event, held on July 17, 2025, marks a cultural milestone connecting Egypt’s rich history with cutting-edge innovation.
The exhibition opening was attended by key figures, including Dr Ashraf Mansour, Chairman of the Boards of Trustees for the German University in Cairo, the German International University, and the German University in Berlin, as well as Dr Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The gathering also drew around 150 prominent guests from political, diplomatic, academic, and cultural circles, alongside representatives of the German Academic Exchange Service and officials from Berlin’s districts.
A significant Egyptian presence was notable, with over 600 participants from Egyptian universities, companies, institutions, and the Egyptian Embassy in Berlin, as well as a media delegation from major Egyptian press outlets.
Organised in partnership with the Egyptian Identity Center at the German University in Cairo and the Grand Egyptian Museum, the exhibition features a curated collection of photographs, videos, and documentaries that spotlight Egypt’s unparalleled cultural heritage.
It aims not only to educate but also to boost tourism and cultural engagement with Egypt on the international stage.
Simultaneously, the event heralded the launch of Connects 2025, a global platform fostering inspiration, learning, and innovation.
This initiative, a collaborative effort by the German University in Berlin, the German University in Cairo, and the German International University, hosts interactive workshops in design and artificial intelligence.
Connects 2025 brings together students and graduates aged 18 to 30, encouraging them to transform bold ideas into tangible projects while promoting intercultural exchange and collaborative learning.
By blending Egypt’s ancient heritage with forward-looking creativity, the exhibition and Connects 2025 underscore a vibrant cultural dialogue between Germany and Egypt, paving the way for future partnerships in education, technology, and the arts.
