Gabon’s transitional President, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, arrived in Ankara on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, to begin a high-level official visit aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation between Gabon and Turkey.
The visit, described as both a working and friendship mission, comes at the special invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During the trip, the two leaders are expected to hold in-depth discussions on the future of Gabon-Turkey relations.
According to officials close to the presidency, Oligui Nguema intends to outline a new strategic vision for partnership—one rooted in mutual benefit, local processing of raw materials, and Gabon’s repositioning on the international diplomatic stage.
The President’s message is expected to emphasize transformation, value addition, and economic sovereignty.
The visit will also take him to Istanbul, where he is scheduled to tour facilities of key Turkish enterprises operating in various industrial sectors.
A major highlight of his agenda includes chairing a business roundtable with a consortium of Turkish investors.
Beyond these high-level meetings, President Oligui Nguema’s itinerary features several engagements with influential business leaders, CEOs, and economic policymakers.
These discussions will center on critical areas such as infrastructure development, energy, manufacturing, and agro-industry—sectors deemed essential to Gabon’s long-term development ambitions.
Observers view the visit as a pivotal moment for Gabon as it seeks to diversify its international partnerships and attract foreign investment amid a broader political transition at home.
