Spanish energy company Diseprosa has announced plans to expand its operations into Gabon, marking a significant step in the firm’s strategy to deepen its presence in Central Africa’s petroleum sector.
During a high-level meeting on July 30, 2024, in Libreville, Gabon’s Minister of Petroleum, Sosthène Nguema Nguema, received a delegation from Diseprosa to explore the practicalities of the company’s establishment in the country.
The talks focused on the potential collaboration in the supply, loading, and distribution of petroleum products — critical components in Gabon’s national energy infrastructure.
“We are a Spanish company operating in the gas sector for over 40 years.
Present in Africa, we now want to establish ourselves in Gabon,” said Miguel De La Torre Macias, project manager at Diseprosa, during the discussion with the minister.
With a reputation built over four decades, Diseprosa has gained considerable expertise in the management and logistics of oil and gas products.
Already operating in other parts of Africa, the company’s interest in Gabon signals both confidence in the local market and a broader intent to tap into Central Africa’s growing energy needs.
Minister Nguema Nguema welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of systematizing their approach.
He urged the Spanish firm to formalize their investment plans and proposals, specifically in the areas of petroleum product loading and distribution, which are essential for enhancing traceability and ensuring the reliability of energy delivery across the country.
The minister underscored that improving the supply chain remains a priority for the government, particularly in securing energy access and strengthening regulatory oversight.
Diseprosa’s interest in Gabon comes at a time when the nation is actively seeking to diversify partnerships in the petroleum sector and boost efficiency through international expertise and private sector investment.
