Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has held a series of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the 17th United States–Africa Business Summit in Luanda, Angola, aiming to forge stronger regional ties and advance Gabon’s digital and development agenda.
During bilateral talks on Monday, President Oligui Nguema met with President Duma Gideon Boko of Botswana, expressing admiration for Botswana’s achievements in governance innovation.
According to a statement from Gabon’s presidency, the Head of State praised Botswana’s strides in public sector digitalization and efficient revenue management.
“He expressed his interest in drawing inspiration from this model to drive similar reforms in Gabon,” the statement noted.
The two leaders reaffirmed their countries’ strong diplomatic relations and agreed to identify and develop new sectors for collaboration.
The discussion marked a renewed commitment to shared development goals in Southern and Central Africa.

The leaders addressed pressing continental and global concerns, including regional security and sustainable growth.
“The two leaders renewed their commitment to dialogue and cooperation, particularly in strategic areas related to peace, security, and sustainable development,” an official communiqué stated.
Beyond diplomatic engagement, President Oligui Nguema hosted a delegation from U.S.-based cybersecurity firm Cybastion, led by its Chairman and CEO, Thierry Wandji.

“The company has expressed its desire to support the Gabonese government in the implementation of its strategy,” the presidency reported.
Cybastion proposed building a national data center and offering professional training to 1,000 Gabonese youth in digital technologies.
The initiative is aimed at establishing Gabon as a regional digital powerhouse.
To conclude his day, the President met with members of the Gabonese diaspora in Angola.
Citizens voiced a range of concerns spanning administrative hurdles, healthcare access, public safety, and financial challenges.
