The widow of Mamadou Moustapha Ba, Senegal’s former Minister of Finance and Budget, has been summoned by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) as part of the ongoing inquiry into her husband’s death, according to reports from L’Observateur newspaper.
The daily publication, affiliated with the Groupe Futurs Médias, revealed that the summons was issued by the head of the DIC.
As one of the first people to have seen Ba’s body in France, the widow is expected to provide critical testimony.
Investigators are reportedly interested in gathering information about her late husband’s social and professional connections in France, the content of their recent conversations, and any relevant details regarding his health status leading up to his death.
In addition, law enforcement is probing who might have collected Ba’s belongings from the hotel where he was staying.
The investigation is expanding to include other individuals closely associated with the late minister, with further interviews expected in the coming days.
Mamadou Moustapha Ba passed away last Monday in Paris after spending several days in a coma.
The circumstances surrounding his death have drawn significant public attention, prompting a comprehensive investigation by Senegalese authorities.
