President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has praised the sweeping impact of the Decent Life Project, which has successfully provided a “civilized environment” to more than 60 million Egyptians, marking a milestone in the nation’s ongoing urban renewal and development efforts.
Speaking on the 73rd anniversary of the July 23, 1952 Revolution, President Sisi reflected on the profound transformation Egypt has undergone, highlighting remarkable achievements including the eradication of slums, construction of new housing, the establishment of smart cities, and unprecedented advancements in infrastructure.
“The Decent Life project was launched to ensure that approximately 60 million citizens live in a civilized environment, along with other remarkable achievements across the country,” he said. “We have witnessed a comprehensive urban boom, with slums removed, housing constructed, smart cities established, and infrastructure making unprecedented qualitative leaps.”
The president emphasised the lasting significance of the July 23 Revolution as a pivotal moment in Egypt’s history, one that “consolidated the values of pride, dignity, and independence” by ending colonial occupation and igniting a spirit of liberation across the developing world and the Arab region.
He added, “We recall a comprehensive national experience, as we commemorate the July Revolution. We delve deeply into its lessons, and draw on its successes and failures to illuminate the path of the new republic, which was launched in 2014, based on solid foundations, an ambitious vision, and steady steps toward establishing a modern state that embraces scientific methods to achieve its ambitions.”
President Sisi further noted, “The July Revolution was an inspiration for liberation from colonialism and an inspiration for stability in national decision-making. We take the success and failure of the July Revolution as a way to illuminate the path of the new republic.”
As Egypt continues its development trajectory, the Decent Life Project stands as a testament to the country’s commitment to improving living standards and modernising urban spaces for millions of its citizens.
