Egyptian embassy in Djibouti marks national day with cultural tribute and diplomatic solidarity

The Egyptian Embassy in Djibouti celebrated the National Day of the Arab Republic of Egypt with a vibrant and solemn ceremony on Thursday, gathering government officials, diplomats, international representatives, and members of the Egyptian diaspora for an evening rich in symbolism and cultural pride.
Hosted at the Ayla Grand Hotel in Djibouti City, the event was presided over by Egypt’s Ambassador to Djibouti, Mr. Khaled Fadi Mahmoud El-Shazly, who warmly welcomed guests in a spirit of fraternity and cooperation.
In a notable gesture of solidarity, the Palestinian national anthem opened the ceremony, followed by the national anthems of Djibouti and Egypt.
In his address, Ambassador El-Shazly underscored the historic and enduring ties between Egypt and Djibouti, highlighting cooperation across sectors such as trade, education, health, maritime security, and infrastructure development.
Key milestones in the partnership include the opening of Banque Misr’s Djibouti branch and the foundation of a solar power plant in the town of Omar Jaga.
Speaking at the event, Djibouti’s Minister of Higher Education and Research, Dr. Nabil Mohamed Ahmed, reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship, which he described as “historical, fraternal, and solid—based on mutual respect and a shared vision for regional progress.”
He recalled the significance of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s recent visit to Djibouti, calling it a defining moment in strategic cooperation between the two nations.
Dr. Ahmed also paid tribute to the historical importance of Egypt’s July 23, 1952 revolution, describing it as a “pivotal moment” that marked Egypt’s transformation into a sovereign modern state and a beacon of pan-African and Arab leadership.
He praised Egypt’s ongoing role in promoting peace, development, and unity across Africa and the Middle East.
The evening unfolded in a festive ambiance, with traditional Egyptian music, cultural displays, and a lavish buffet featuring authentic Nile Delta cuisine.
Guests were treated to handicrafts and promotional tourism videos, offering a glimpse into Egypt’s rich cultural heritage.
A highlight of the evening was a raffle draw, where three lucky attendees won round-trip tickets to Egypt, courtesy of EgyptAir.
The winners will have the chance to explore Egypt’s iconic monuments and ancient archaeological sites, deepening the people-to-people connections that underpin the enduring partnership between Egypt and Djibouti.
