Egyptian delegation explores agricultural innovation at jordan’s national research centre

A senior Egyptian delegation has visited the National Center for Agricultural Research in Jordan as part of a renewed commitment to bolstering regional cooperation in agriculture between the two nations.
The high-level visit, conducted on Friday, July 18, was welcomed by Dr.
Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Rawashdeh, Director General of the Jordanian center, and came under the directives of Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk. The aim was to enhance scientific collaboration and exchange expertise in modern agricultural practices.
The visiting delegation included several distinguished figures in Egyptian agricultural research, including Dr. Adel Abdel Azim, Head of the Agricultural Research Center; Dr.
Sayed Khalifa, Head of the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate; and Dr. Ahmed Azzam, Head of the Services Sector at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Other members included Dr. Suleiman Ahmed Omran, Assistant Head of the Center for Vegetable Seeds Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Helmy, Director of the Horticultural Research Institute; Dr.
Alphonse Gerges, Deputy Director for Production Affairs; Dr. Mahmoud Abu Youssef, Supervisor of Seed Production at Sakha Orchards Station; and Eng.
Ibrahim Al-Hadidi, Chairman of EGASID Agricultural Company. The meeting was also attended by Eng. Ali Abu Nuqta, Head of the Jordanian Syndicate of Agricultural Engineers.
During discussions, Dr. Al-Rawashdeh emphasized the strategic importance of deepening scientific and research partnerships with Egypt’s Agricultural Research Center.
He highlighted the necessity of launching joint programs in seed development, food security, and sustainable agriculture while preserving vital genetic resources.
The Egyptian delegation toured several of the Jordanian center’s flagship initiatives, including the National Seed Bank and local seed production programs, as well as various sustainability-focused agricultural development projects.
Members of the Egyptian delegation expressed strong admiration for the Jordanian center’s achievements and its practical application of research findings.
They reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral collaboration, underscoring a shared vision of sustainable agricultural advancement and food security for both nations.
