Authorities in Cairo have arrested a suspect for operating an unlicensed educational institution, in a move that highlights ongoing efforts to combat fraud and protect citizens from financial exploitation.
The arrest was carried out by the General Administration for Publications Investigations and Intellectual Property Rights Protection, part of Egypt’s Specialized Police Sector.
Investigations revealed that the individual was running the illegal educational entity in Nasr City, claiming to provide certificates in a specific field in exchange for money.
The operation was part of a broader campaign by the Ministry of Interior to target fraudulent schemes designed to deceive the public.
Officers raided the institution after completing legal procedures, arresting the manager and seizing a number of textbooks for different educational levels, enrollment forms, and cash receipt books used in the scheme.
When confronted, the suspect admitted to collaborating with the entity’s owner in conducting the fraudulent activities for financial gain.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against both parties, according to authorities.
“This arrest demonstrates our continued commitment to safeguarding citizens from deceptive practices and ensuring that all educational institutions operate within the law,” a ministry spokesperson said.
The crackdown reflects growing concerns in Egypt over unlicensed educational centres and training programmes, which have in some cases exploited vulnerable students and families seeking professional qualifications.
Authorities continue to urge the public to verify the credentials of institutions and report suspicious operations to the relevant regulatory bodies.
By taking swift action, Egyptian law enforcement aims to deter similar criminal activities and reinforce public confidence in the country’s educational and professional certification systems.
