The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) is strengthening its global appeal after hosting a high-level delegation from China’s Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce (ZFIC).
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the SCZone Authority, welcomed the delegation led by Jin Minxiang, Vice Chairman of ZFIC, in a meeting that underscored expanding cooperation across multiple industrial and logistics sectors.
The delegation included government officials and executives representing leading companies from Zhejiang Province, a major hub of Chinese manufacturing and commerce.
During the meeting, El-Din delivered a detailed presentation on the SCZone’s strategic advantages, highlighting its status as a premier global logistics hub. Boasting six ports on both the Mediterranean and Red Seas, the zone’s infrastructure is further enhanced by four industrial zones equipped to international standards.
This infrastructure supports a diverse economic strategy encompassing 21 sectors — spanning industry, services, logistics, free trade, and international market access.
“The Suez Canal Economic Zone’s unique position offers unrivalled access to global markets, backed by world-class infrastructure and comprehensive economic incentives,” El-Din said.
“We are committed to attracting further investments, especially from China, to build on recent successes.”
His comments come on the heels of a recent promotional tour in China, where the SCZone secured six new projects in the textile and ready-made garment sectors. Plans for additional initiatives are also underway, reflecting the zone’s proactive approach to diversifying its investment portfolio.
The Zhejiang delegation’s visit signals growing confidence in Egypt’s economic zones as catalysts for regional trade and industrial development. Both parties expressed optimism about the future of Sino-Egyptian collaboration in advancing technology, manufacturing, and logistics.
As Egypt continues to leverage its strategic location and modernize its trade infrastructure, partnerships like these position the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a vital link in the global supply chain.
