In a significant move to bolster regional cooperation, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, held high-level talks with officials from Abu Dhabi Ports Group during a working visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The discussions centred on the activation of a memorandum of understanding previously signed between the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Abu Dhabi Ports.
The agreement aims to integrate the advanced digital capabilities and operational expertise of the Emirati group with Egypt’s petroleum infrastructure, creating a new model for cross-border collaboration in energy logistics.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry on Tuesday, Minister Badawi met with key figures from Abu Dhabi Ports, including CEO Ahmed Al Mutawa, Saif Al Mazrouei, Head of the Ports Sector, and Mahmoud Faraj Omran, General Manager of TCM Project Management.
The talks highlighted the strategic potential of deepening economic and logistical ties between the two nations.
During the visit, Badawi and his delegation toured Abu Dhabi Port, where they received a detailed briefing on its operations and infrastructure.
The minister underscored the importance of regional cooperation, referring specifically to the sixth pillar of the ministry’s strategic framework, which prioritises partnerships that strengthen Egypt’s regional standing.
“Our cooperation with Abu Dhabi Ports represents a strategic opportunity,” Badawi explained.
“By combining their world-class capabilities with the strengths of Egypt’s petroleum sector, we are paving the way for a new era of joint regional development.”
The meeting marks another step in a series of diplomatic and commercial engagements aimed at deepening Egypt’s energy ties with the Gulf region. The visit follows recent statements by the minister emphasising the need to launch strategic projects with the UAE and engage international and local companies in Egypt’s mineral exploration efforts.
