The 2025 Senate elections entered their second day on Tuesday, August 5, with national oversight authorities intensifying their monitoring efforts to ensure a smooth, transparent, and safe voting process across the country.
Counselor Mohamed El-Shenawy, Head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority, directed the operations room tasked with supervising the electoral process.
The room is actively coordinating with judges and advisors from the Administrative Prosecution, deployed nationwide to provide judicial oversight at thousands of polling stations.
El-Shenawy emphasized the need to support the deployed legal officials, ensuring they are equipped to carry out their duties effectively.
His directive followed a reported incident in which a ceiling fan fell on a female advisor at one of the polling stations—an occurrence that prompted increased attention to safety measures for election personnel.
On Monday, August 4, El-Shenawy himself cast his ballot at the 15th of May Language School in 15th of May City, the location of his assigned electoral committee.
Following his vote, he conducted inspections of several polling stations to observe proceedings firsthand.
During his visits, the head of the Administrative Prosecution praised the organization of the elections and commended the high turnout witnessed on the opening day.
“The electoral process is progressing smoothly,” he noted, underlining the commitment of judicial supervisors to maintaining transparency and order.
Voting for the 2025 Senate elections officially began on Monday, August 4, and will conclude on Tuesday, August 5.
Over 68 million eligible voters are expected to participate, casting their votes at 8,286 polling stations across Egypt.
To guarantee electoral integrity, more than 9,500 judges, including 2,500 female judges, from both the Administrative Prosecution Authority and the State Lawsuits Authority, are overseeing the vote. Polling stations remain open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both days.
As Egyptians continue to line up to vote, authorities have reiterated the significance of civic participation in shaping the country’s democratic future.
