President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has called for accelerated implementation of key projects aimed at establishing integrated development logistics hubs across Egypt, underscoring the country’s ambition to become a global trade and logistics powerhouse.
In a meeting held on July 27, 2025, with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Industry Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, and Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly, the President was briefed on the progress of vital infrastructure undertakings.
According to Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, official spokesperson for the Presidency, particular attention was given to the railway system, including the Arish-Taba line and completion of the Bir al-Abd-Arish railway.
These projects are poised to stimulate development in the Sinai Peninsula and create a strategic logistics corridor linking the Red Sea with the Mediterranean.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing enhancements at several seaports pivotal to Egypt’s economic development strategy.
Key projects include upgrades at Ras Sudr, Gergoub, Abu Qir, the Grand Alexandria Port, New Mex Port, and Sokhna Port, alongside the establishment of Taba Seaport and development initiatives at Damietta Port. These ports are set to become world-class hubs with expanded capacity, facilitating smoother trade flows.
Additionally, updates were provided on the construction of Cairo Metro’s fourth line and the high-speed electric train, further strengthening Egypt’s modern transportation network.
Industrial zone developments in Wadi Al-Saririya and Al-Mathara in Minya Governorate, along with North Fayoum, were also discussed as part of efforts to boost industrial growth in Upper Egypt.
The focus is on creating job opportunities in labour-intensive sectors such as spinning, weaving, and ready-made garments.
President Sisi emphasized the importance of adhering to project timelines and urged intensified efforts to integrate production zones with the newly upgraded seaports.
“These initiatives will be linked to roads, axes, and railways to provide the necessary components to transform Egypt into a global trade and logistics hub,” the spokesperson quoted the President as saying.
With these developments, Egypt is steadily advancing toward its vision of becoming a central nexus for international commerce and industry.
