Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsi, has announced the launch of specialised training workshops for facilitators at two reception centres dedicated to the children of employees from the Ministries of Social Solidarity and Justice in the New Administrative Capital.
The initiative marks the final stage of the first phase of a nationwide programme aimed at enhancing child protection measures within nurseries and educational institutions.
Conducted in cooperation with the Safe Egypt Foundation, the programme is part of the “Safe Shield for Educational Institutions” initiative, designed to foster safer, more nurturing environments for children.
According to Dr. Morsi, the training seeks to equip staff and caregivers with the skills to detect and manage cases of violence and abuse at an early stage while promoting comprehensive child protection and care practices.
The initial phase of the programme has already trained 101 facilitators across 50 nurseries located in Cairo Governorate, including the Asmarat District and the Administrative Capital, as well as Qalyubia Governorate’s Obour City and Giza Governorate’s 6th of October City.
Through this initiative, facilitators are being trained to teach children vital social skills, create a safe nursery model, and encourage participation and cooperation. The programme also aims to empower children to express themselves and build healthy friendships.
Over the coming days, the workshops will cover essential topics such as understanding children’s psychological needs, addressing bullying, and improving the psychological well-being of caregivers.
Plans are already in place to expand the programme to several other governorates in the near future, reinforcing Egypt’s efforts to strengthen child development and protection across its educational landscape.
