Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif, launched the 2025/2026 academic year on Sunday with a tour of schools in Qalyubia Governorate, stressing the central role of teachers in shaping students’ futures.
Accompanied by Qalyubia Governor Ayman Mohamed Attia, the minister inspected Al-Shimaa Secondary School for Girls, which has 1,200 students, as part of a wider follow-up visit to ensure the smooth start of studies.
Speaking to parents and pupils, Abdel Latif highlighted the options available under the General Secondary Education and the Baccalaureate Certificate systems, pointing to the wider opportunities the latter provides.
He emphasised that the ministry is introducing programming and artificial intelligence into the curriculum through the Japanese platform “Koiro”, describing it as “the language of the future”.
The minister noted that students would take their exams on the platform and receive an accredited international certificate upon completion, giving them access to new opportunities in global technology fields.
During the school visits, Abdel Latif underlined the responsibility of teachers in guiding pupils towards future career paths. “Teaching is the mother of all professions,” he said. “Teachers are primarily responsible for setting students on the path to various careers in the future.”
He met with staff, congratulating them on the new school year and stressing that their participation is essential to the success of educational reforms. The minister also directed teachers to simplify lessons, ensure students fully grasp new curricula, and prioritise literacy, numeracy, and creative skills.
The tour included stops at Ibn Khaldoun Elementary School and Imam Muhammad Abdo Elementary School, where the minister checked kindergarten and first-grade classrooms. He stressed the importance of creating safe, attractive learning environments from the earliest stages of education and ensuring timely distribution of textbooks.
Governor Ayman Mohamed said he was pleased to take part in launching the school year, adding that education remains central to development in Qalyubia. He confirmed that the governorate is coordinating with the Ministry of Education to complete maintenance, upgrade facilities, and provide the necessary resources for students and teachers.
The minister concluded by urging school principals and supervisors to monitor daily operations closely throughout the year to guarantee regular attendance and effective implementation of the modernised curriculum.
