
Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, held a high-profile meeting with His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait, to discuss strengthening Kuwaiti investments in Egypt’s seaports, dry ports, logistics, and industrial zones.
The meeting took place with the presence of key officials including Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works and Transport Dr. Noura Mohammed Khaled Al-Mashaan, Egypt’s Assistant Minister of Transport Major General Hossam El-Din Mustafa, and Egypt’s Ambassador to Kuwait Osama Shaltout.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah warmly welcomed Lt. Gen. Al-Wazir and his delegation, underlining the deep-rooted bilateral ties between the two countries. He expressed Kuwait’s eagerness to enhance cooperation across industrial and transport sectors.
Lt. Gen. Al-Wazir conveyed greetings from Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, extending an invitation for the Kuwaiti Prime Minister to visit Egypt. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to boosting collaboration with Kuwait in various strategic fields.
The discussions focused on ways to maximize Kuwaiti investments in Egypt’s flourishing seaport and logistics sectors, highlighting Egypt’s attractive investment climate. They also explored mechanisms for registering Egyptian companies within Kuwaiti tender processes and the possibility of converting Kuwait’s Central Bank deposits in Egypt into direct investments.
Lt. Gen. Al-Wazir provided an overview of Egypt’s economic advancements, highlighting major national infrastructure projects undertaken over the last decade. These include extensive developments in railways, tunnels, roads, bridges, sea and dry ports, and integrated logistics corridors designed to link industrial, agricultural, and mining zones to seaports and new urban communities.
These projects form part of Egypt’s vision to become a regional hub for transportation, logistics, and transit trade, in line with President El-Sisi’s directives to deepen cooperation with Kuwait and support its development renaissance.
The Egyptian delegation includes leaders from 17 companies specializing in infrastructure and mega projects, eager to partner with Kuwait on its ambitious development plans, delivering high-quality, timely, and cost-competitive solutions.
Lt. Gen. Al-Wazir also stressed Egypt’s focus on encouraging private sector participation across projects, aligned with state ownership policies. He noted that Egypt’s ports have attracted the world’s six largest shipping lines and seven leading international operators, signaling a breakthrough in transit trade fueled by comprehensive port development plans.
He concluded by reaffirming Egypt’s welcoming investment climate and its ongoing efforts to facilitate and support foreign investments across diverse sectors.
