Voting resumed early Tuesday morning across Giza Governorate for the second day of Egypt’s 2025 Senate elections, with citizens gathering at polling stations from the official opening time of 9:00 a.m.
The elections form part of a nationwide democratic exercise that began on August 4 and will continue through August 5, following external voting for Egyptians abroad on August 1 and 2.
Polling centers, including the National Schools stations in the Agouza district, opened their doors promptly, welcoming voters in steady numbers.
The polls are scheduled to remain open until 9:00 p.m., under the watchful eyes of a robust security and administrative presence to guarantee a smooth, transparent process.
Coordination between executive bodies and security agencies remains tight, ensuring not only the safety of voters but also the provision of ample logistical support.
Special attention has been given to accessibility, with the National Elections Authority confirming that facilities such as ground-floor polling stations, wheelchairs, Braille ballots, and clear signage are in place to accommodate people with disabilities and elderly voters, reaffirming the commitment to inclusive participation.
Nationwide, over 68 million Egyptians are eligible to cast their votes in the Senate elections, which are being conducted at 8,286 polling stations.
More than 9,500 judges, including 2,500 female judges from the Administrative Prosecution and State Cases Authority, are overseeing the process to uphold electoral integrity.
According to the electoral timetable, preliminary results for the first round are expected to be announced on August 12. The winner in each electoral district will be the candidate securing an absolute majority of valid votes. Should no candidate achieve this threshold, a runoff election will take place on August 27 and 28, with the final official results set for release on September 4, following the conclusion of the appeals period.
As the nation closely watches the unfolding democratic process, Giza’s polling stations remain prepared and operational, supporting the collective effort to strengthen Egypt’s legislative framework through a peaceful and orderly electoral exercise.
