In a strategic step toward integrating education and professional sports development, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) held a high-level meeting on Sunday with the Ministry of Education to lay the groundwork for a joint protocol aimed at discovering football talent in schools across the country.
Engineer Hani Abou Rida, President of the EFA, met with Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister of Education, to discuss a formal cooperation framework that would support talent identification initiatives and the development of school football leagues.
Central to the plan is the revival and enhancement of the school football league system, coupled with offering official coaching licenses to physical education teachers.
The goal is to equip educators with professional tools to nurture and guide student-athletes at a grassroots level.
“This collaboration is about unearthing the next generation of Egyptian football stars,” said Abou Rida during the meeting.
“By linking our football development system with the educational infrastructure, we are laying a sustainable foundation for long-term sporting excellence.”
Also present at the meeting were Dr. Mostafa Azzam, Executive Director of the EFA, and Dr. Essam Serag El-Din, Head of the EFA’s Commercial Sector, both of whom expressed strong support for the initiative.
The partnership marks a significant move by the Egyptian Football Association to broaden the base of football participation among youth and to formalize a pipeline for talent development through structured educational channels.
The forthcoming protocol is expected to emphasize not only football training but also professional development for PE teachers, ensuring that schools become vital hubs in the national sports ecosystem.
This initiative comes as part of a broader effort to integrate sports more deeply into the educational curriculum, signaling a new era of cooperation between sports governing bodies and academic institutions in Egypt.
