As polling stations across Cairo opened at 9 a.m. on the second day of the 2025 Senate elections, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, convened a comprehensive meeting to oversee the ongoing electoral process and ensure seamless voting for the city’s residents.
Addressing the readiness of the capital’s polling stations, Dr. Saber highlighted the close coordination between the governorate’s central operations room and all involved electoral authorities.
“All polling stations in the capital are prepared to receive voters,” he confirmed, noting that approximately 8,544,319 eligible voters are distributed across 544 subcommittees within 336 polling stations.
The governor emphasized the round-the-clock monitoring of the electoral process to guarantee that voters encounter no obstacles in casting their ballots.
“We will continue to facilitate the voting process to ensure ease and convenience for all citizens,” Dr. Saber stated, expressing confidence that voter turnout would match the enthusiasm seen on the first day.
Highlighting the importance of the elections, Dr. Saber urged citizens to view their participation as a national responsibility. “Participating in the Senate elections is a national duty for everyone,” he said. “Citizens must realize that their involvement plays a positive role in the nation’s democratic process.”
The meeting took place shortly after voting commenced throughout all governorate committees, held within the governorate’s central operations room at the National Network for Emergency and Public Safety.
Polling in Cairo continues until 9 p.m., with voters engaging actively since the opening hours.
The National Elections Authority plans to announce preliminary results for the first round on August 12, 2025.
Candidates who secure an absolute majority of valid votes in their districts will be declared winners. If no candidate achieves this majority, a runoff election is scheduled for August 27 and 28.
Final official results, after considering any appeals, will be published on September 4, 2025.
With strong administrative oversight and citizen participation, Cairo’s 2025 Senate elections are progressing steadily toward a pivotal democratic milestone.
