Egypt and Germany to hold fresh financial cooperation talks by end of 2025

Egypt and Germany are set to engage in a new round of intergovernmental negotiations on financial cooperation by the end of 2025, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr.Rania Al-Mashat, announced during a joint press conference held in Cairo.
The event, which also featured Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, and German Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan, underscored the growing economic partnership between the two nations.
Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted the strategic importance of the upcoming talks, stating they aim to “define the priorities for economic cooperation between Egypt and Germany in the coming period.
” She noted that the relationship has evolved significantly in recent years, reflecting mutual interests and shared goals.
According to Al-Mashat, one of the most prominent milestones in the bilateral relationship was the signing of the annual financial cooperation agreement in May, valued at €118 million.
The agreement includes a mix of concessional financing and development grants and is designed to support a range of critical sectors in Egypt.
“The financial package will back key development projects in technical education and energy,” she said, noting that one major initiative involves linking wind farms to the national electricity grid.
This project falls under Egypt’s broader “NWFE” program, which aims to promote sustainable energy and infrastructure.
The announcement of renewed negotiations has been received as a positive signal for both countries, with expectations of further deepening of ties, especially in areas of sustainable development, vocational training, and renewable energy.
Germany has been one of Egypt’s most active European partners in recent development initiatives, and both sides appear poised to build on this momentum through the upcoming 2025 dialogue.
