In a symbolic start to the 2025 Certificate of Completion of Normal School Studies (CFEEN) session, 285 aspiring teachers — including an overwhelming 253 girls — gathered in Dosso, Niger, to take part in the critical national examination that marks the entry into a teaching career.
The official launch took place at 8 a.m. on July 14 at the Mali Béro Teacher Training College in Dosso. The Governor of the region, Colonel-Major Bana Alhassane, presided over the ceremony, flanked by regional administrative authorities, education officials, and representatives of the defense and security forces.
The Governor personally opened the first exam envelope, which contained the Psychopedagogy paper, marking the formal beginning of the session.
In his address to the candidates, he commended their perseverance and discipline throughout the school year, which he noted had progressed without disruption — a factor he believes will positively impact exam outcomes.
Colonel-Major Bana Alhassane encouraged the candidates to remain focused and diligent. “Reproduce what you have been taught during the year in order to achieve good results,” he said. He emphasized the importance of this moment not just for the candidates, but for the future of the country itself.
“You are the honest and healthy youth on whom the country is counting,” he added.
“Today, the country needs you for its reconstruction, and we must truly honor the national sovereignty so sought by the highest authorities of our country.”
The Governor concluded his remarks by wishing all the candidates success in their exams.
The large number of female candidates this year stands as a strong indicator of progress in girls’ education and empowerment in the Dosso region.
As the nation looks to rebuild and strengthen its educational system, these young candidates represent a vital link in shaping the future of teaching and learning in Niger.
