The 50th Meeting of the Cooperation Focal Points of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) begins today, July 13, in Bissau, marking a pivotal moment for regional dialogue and strategic planning among Lusophone nations. The gathering will run through July 14 and brings together key representatives from all CPLP member states.
The opening session will feature addresses from the Executive Secretary of the CPLP, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Guinea-Bissau, and the Cooperation Focal Point of São Tomé and Príncipe.
In line with the meeting’s agenda, national delegations will review the ongoing projects supported by the CPLP Special Fund, along with broader cooperation initiatives. A major focus will be the evaluation of the Biennial Cooperation Framework for 2023–2025, as well as deliberations on new project proposals aimed at strengthening collaboration across sectors.
Delegates are also expected to carry out on-site monitoring visits to various cooperation project locations, reflecting the CPLP’s commitment to transparency and impact assessment. These visits include stops at the Cashew Processing Center, the Guinea-Bissau Engineering Laboratory (LEGUI), the Brazil–Guinea-Bissau Professional Training Center, the National Institute of Public Health of Guinea-Bissau (INSP-GB), and the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports.
These inspections will provide a first-hand look at how CPLP-backed initiatives are contributing to local development, particularly in the fields of health, education, industry, and vocational training.
As CPLP celebrates its 50th session of cooperation dialogue, the Bissau meeting stands as a symbol of enduring solidarity among Lusophone nations and a renewed commitment to shared progress.
