Coris Bank International officially launches brand in Chad amid strong government backing

Coris Bank International Chad officially unveiled its brand in N’Djamena on Wednesday, 18 June, during a high-profile ceremony attended by top government officials, diplomats, and business leaders.
The event was presided over by the Minister of State and Minister of Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, who represented President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.
Held under the auspices of the Presidency, the launch underscored Chad’s ambitions to deepen financial inclusion and spur private sector-led economic growth.
Minister Nguilin praised the bank’s swift expansion just a year after entering the Chadian market and reaffirmed government support for private sector financing.
“The private sector must take ownership of this bank.
The Chamber of Commerce and the Employers’ Association must support this initiative and push the entire banking sector to finance our economy,” he urged.
He also confirmed that new branches would soon open in Bongor, Ati, and Gassi as part of the government’s decentralisation agenda and national development plan.
The Minister commended Coris Bank’s efforts to promote gender inclusion and youth employment, citing the government’s recent tax incentives supporting these initiatives.
In his welcoming remarks, the Mayor of N’Djamena, Senoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, described Coris Bank’s presence in the capital as a strategic decision aligned with the city’s economic potential.
“Urban development is not solely about infrastructure, but also about trust, economic fluidity, and institutions that support collective ambitions,” he noted.
Coris Bank International Group President Idrissa Nassa led a large delegation of executives to the event, underlining the group’s commitment to Chad.
Chairman of the Board of Coris Bank Chad, Diakarya Ouattara, highlighted the country’s strategic location and its youthful entrepreneurial spirit as decisive factors behind the bank’s entry.
“Chad is poised to play a central role in regional development.
I call on entrepreneurs and investors to make Coris Bank their preferred partner for inclusive and sustainable growth,” he said.
Managing Director Fidèle Toko described the bank as a close, innovative, and responsible financial partner, offering competitive and tailored services to local market needs.
He outlined the bank’s strengths, including a team of seasoned professionals, a growing network of 13 branches, a business centre for international operations, cutting-edge digital banking solutions, and strong governance based on transparency and rigorous risk management.
Coris Bank International, which operates across several West and Central African countries, continues to strengthen its footprint in the region, aligning with national goals and empowering local economies.
