A vibrant citizens’ movement in the Marahoué region has paid a heartfelt tribute to the Ivorian government, applauding a wave of transformative development projects that are reshaping communities and improving daily life.
The event, held Saturday, July 5, 2025, on the Tchin-Tchin square in Bouaflé, brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, local officials, women’s groups, and civic partners.
The movement, known as Génération gagnante, used the occasion to publicly express its gratitude for what it described as “concrete actions” spearheaded by President Alassane Ouattara’s administration.
“We didn’t want to perform a simple symbolic act.
We wanted, with heart, faith, and loyalty, to send a strong message to the government for all the concrete actions that benefit our region,” declared Hamed Ouédraogo, the movement’s national coordinator and regional leader in Marahoué.
Among the key government achievements lauded were the rehabilitation and paving of the Bouaflé–Sinfra and Gohitafla–Zuénoula roads, the expansion of electrification to previously unconnected villages, and the construction of modern educational and health facilities.
Participants also highlighted nationwide peace-building efforts, youth employment initiatives, and programs to strengthen social cohesion.
“Yes, Marahoué is moving forward. Yes, Marahoué is changing,” Ouédraogo affirmed to loud applause from the crowd.
The event also served as a launchpad for the movement’s next ambition: the construction of a cassava processing plant, aimed at empowering local women economically.
The project, which will rise on a 500 m² plot donated by a private partner, will be spearheaded by Mata Zouré, newly appointed regional coordinator for women within the movement.
“This isn’t just about tribute.
It’s about commitment,” said Ouédraogo. “We are committed to being a relay for awareness, citizen monitoring, and constructive participation in the service of our region.”
Representing the movement’s central leadership, Moro Daouda, Chief of Staff of the Génération gagnante Management Council, reminded attendees of the organization’s founding vision.
Created in December 2017 and refocused in 2022, the group aims to champion government actions while advancing education, healthcare, justice, and good governance.
“When the state builds a road, a bridge, or a health center, it benefits the nation, but also and especially the local population. That’s why our slogan is ‘When your country wins, you win,’” Daouda said.
With a presence across all regions of Côte d’Ivoire and international branches in Canada, the United States, and France, Génération gagnante positions itself as a grassroots force for progress, inclusion, and national unity.
Saturday’s tribute, rich in symbolism and renewed commitment, underscored a broader message: that meaningful development is not just built from above, but also championed from within.
