Chad’s Ministry of the Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development (MEPDD) has taken a significant step towards modernising its operations with a new digital transformation initiative designed to streamline communication, enhance data management, and improve public access to environmental information.
The modernisation drive, supported by the Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (ADETIC), includes the installation of a dedicated server system to securely store the ministry’s growing environmental data.
The upgrade marks the foundation of a broader digitalisation strategy aimed at increasing efficiency and transparency in the ministry’s work.
As part of the initiative, professional email accounts are being rolled out for all staff, a move designed to standardise internal and external communication.
The ministry is also developing a digital environmental library, which will serve as a central hub for research, policy documents, and reports, making environmental data more accessible to both government officials and the public.
In addition, the ministry’s official website is undergoing a major update to provide more comprehensive and user-friendly information on Chad’s environmental policies, conservation projects, and regulatory frameworks. Staff members are receiving training on new technologies and information management systems to ensure they are equipped to implement and maintain the reforms.
Officials say the upgrades are designed to im
prove the ministry’s ability to manage environmental data, communicate with citizens, and coordinate policies effectively. By digitising its operations, the MEPDD aims to strengthen transparency in decision-making and boost public confidence in the government’s environmental agenda.
The initiative is part of a wider administrative reform effort in Chad, where government institutions are seeking to harness digital tools to modernise services, reduce bureaucratic delays, and strengthen public accountability.
