Dozens of Chadian passengers aboard ASKY Airlines flight KP64, scheduled to travel from Lomé to N’Djamena via Yaoundé on July 7, 2025, have voiced outrage after being left stranded at Yaoundé Airport for more than 24 hours following an unexplained flight cancellation.
The affected travelers allege that they have received neither adequate information nor assistance from the airline.
The initial delay was reportedly linked to a technical malfunction, but passengers say the situation deteriorated when the flight was ultimately canceled without official communication from ASKY.
“Since the cancellation, no ASKY agent has come to provide us with information or assistance. We are left to our own devices,” lamented one stranded passenger, describing what many have labeled a “chaotic” and “contemptuous” episode.
Further inflaming tensions is the reported confiscation of passengers’ passports by border police, which has restricted their movement and heightened feelings of abandonment.
Travelers say the disruption has affected official duties, business appointments, and personal commitments, with no resolution in sight.
“We are being forced to wait indefinitely for the aircraft to be repaired. No one is offering rerouting options or any clear timeline,” said another passenger, speaking from the airport terminal.
In a strongly worded collective statement, the passengers are demanding:
-
A transparent and public explanation from ASKY Airlines
-
A formal apology for what they call gross mismanagement
-
Immediate rebooking or full refunds
-
Compensation for the extensive inconvenience caused
The group has also warned that they may escalate the matter to legal and consumer protection bodies to defend their rights and seek reparations.
As of the time of reporting, ASKY Airlines has yet to issue a public statement regarding the cancellation of flight KP64 or the ongoing situation at Yaoundé Airport.
