In a powerful show of solidarity, members of the Chadian community in Bamako gathered at the Kati Medical Centre on Friday, July 4, to donate blood in support of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa).
The initiative was led by Kalzeubé Neldikingar Madjimta, Chad’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mali.
The donation drive was organised as part of ongoing efforts to assist Malian soldiers who, according to the community, “work day and night to defend the institutions of the Republic.”
It also coincided with the annual observance of World Blood Donor Day, which this year was held under the theme: “Give blood, give hope: Together, we save lives.”
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Madjimta praised the unity between the two countries and reaffirmed Chad’s support for Mali’s fight to preserve national sovereignty and peace.
He described the blood donation not only as a humanitarian act but also as a gesture of brotherhood between the people of Chad and Mali.
The Malian Armed Forces have been engaged in ongoing counterterrorism and national security operations across the country, particularly in regions plagued by extremist violence and instability.
The need for medical supplies and blood donations remains high amid these efforts.
Health officials at the Kati Centre expressed their gratitude for the gesture, noting the importance of such contributions during periods of national crisis.
They called on other communities, both local and international, to follow suit and support the national blood supply.
This act of cross-border solidarity reflects a broader commitment to regional cooperation in West Africa, particularly in times of conflict and humanitarian need.
As the security challenges facing Mali persist, the Chadian community’s contribution serves as a timely reminder of the power of unity in action.
