During a transit stop at N’Djamena airport on his way to Nigeria, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelaty, held a brief yet productive meeting with his Chadian counterpart, Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul.
The encounter, confirmed by the communications department of Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spotlighted a broad agenda of bilateral cooperation aimed at reinforcing ties between the two nations.
The ministers discussed expanding collaboration across key sectors including security, agriculture, health, education, infrastructure, trade, and technology. Both officials expressed a shared commitment to deepen their countries’ partnership in service of stability and sustainable development throughout the Sahel and North African regions.
Central to their talks was the forthcoming Chad-Egypt Joint Commission meeting scheduled for September 2025. A major point on the agenda is the proposed visa exemption agreement, designed to facilitate easier mobility and enhance economic exchanges between the two nations.
Chadian Foreign Minister Dr. Fadoul also extended an invitation to Egyptian investors to engage with Chad’s National Development Plan, which will be presented in an upcoming session in Abu Dhabi. The ministers warmly acknowledged the alignment in vision between Presidents Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno and Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, both advocating for a stronger, more united Africa on the global stage.
The discussion also touched upon pressing regional issues, particularly the ongoing situation in Sudan. Both ministers reaffirmed their mutual dedication to peace efforts, the fight against terrorism, and the reform of international institutions to better serve African interests.
This brief but significant stopover underscores the strength and dynamism of the strategic partnership between Cairo and N’Djamena, reflecting a growing regional collaboration that extends well beyond borders.
