Chadian authorities have issued an urgent alert following the discovery of a fraudulent website impersonating the country’s official electronic visa service.
The warning, released by the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration, highlights that the fake platform was created by “malicious individuals” aiming to deceive users and extract money from unsuspecting applicants.
Chad recently launched an official online visa system, described by officials as modern, secure, and fully functional.
However, a separate, fraudulent platform has emerged, deliberately imitating the government’s service to trick visitors into providing personal information and payments.
The Directorate stressed that the counterfeit website is written entirely in English, contains false information, and has no connection with official Chadian immigration services.
Authorities have confirmed that the legitimate portal for visa applications is https://evisa.td, and strongly advise the public to avoid evisa-chad.org, which has been identified as fraudulent.
Officials have urged all applicants to carefully verify the authenticity of the websites they use for administrative procedures, warning that failing to do so could lead to scams or financial loss.
The Directorate emphasized that vigilance is essential, particularly as more public services move online, creating opportunities for cybercriminals to exploit unsuspecting users.
“The goal is to protect visa applicants and preserve confidence in public services,” the authorities said.
They encouraged travelers and residents to report suspicious websites and to rely only on official government channels when applying for visas.
This alert serves as a critical reminder that even in the digital age, verifying official sources remains crucial, and that fraudulent platforms can emerge quickly, preying on those seeking legitimate services.
