A vital new health facility was officially inaugurated on Monday, September 29, 2025, in Mongo, the capital of Chad’s Guéra province. The newly launched oxygen plant is designed to supply medical oxygen to the provinces of Guéra, Batha, and Salamat.
The inauguration ceremony brought together senior officials, including Chad’s Minister of Public Health and Prevention, Dr Abdelmadjid Abderrahim Mahamat, the Government Delegate to Guéra province, General Abdoulaye Ibrahim Siam, and the UNICEF representative in Chad.
General Abdoulaye Ibrahim Siam hailed the establishment of the facility as a timely response to the urgent healthcare needs of the local population. “This infrastructure is crucial for the survival of patients in the region,” he said, highlighting its role in strengthening emergency and routine medical services.
Speaking at the event, Minister Dr Mahamat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving public health, noting that the initiative aligns with the broader policy objectives set by the Head of State. “We are determined to ensure that citizens have access to essential healthcare services,” he stated.
The ceremony concluded with a tour of the oxygen plant, marking the official start of its operations. Authorities emphasized that the facility represents a strategic investment in the health system, expected to enhance the capacity of hospitals across the three provinces to treat critical patients and respond effectively to medical emergencies.
The inauguration of the Mongo oxygen plant underscores Chad’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure and improve the wellbeing of its citizens, particularly in regions that have historically faced shortages of essential medical supplies.
