Authorities in Bol have officially inaugurated a new building for the Gendarmerie Legion No. 20, a development aimed at strengthening local law enforcement capabilities.
The ceremony, held on September 7, 2025, was presided over by General Saleh Haggar Tidjani, Delegate General of the Lake Province government.
The building, named in honour of the late General Ahmat Dari Basine, is the result of a collaborative initiative between General Tidjani and the Mayor of Bol, Ahmat Abakar Abdoulaye.
Comprising five offices, the facility is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of the local gendarmerie and provide a modern base for its activities.
General Mahamat Djamal Nimir, commander of Legion No. 20, expressed his satisfaction with the development, noting that the infrastructure had been long awaited since the legion’s creation in 1998.
“This building is a milestone for our operational capabilities,” he said, highlighting the importance of adequate infrastructure in supporting security missions.
Representing the national gendarmerie leadership, General Ramadan Tchoroma praised the initiative, describing the collaboration between the local authorities as a “patriotic” gesture that demonstrates commitment to public security and community welfare.
Speaking at the event, General Saleh Haggar Tidjani emphasised that the new facility reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to equip and modernise security services across the country.
He underscored the importance of investing in infrastructure to ensure that law enforcement personnel can operate effectively and respond promptly to security challenges.
In recognition of their roles in facilitating the project, both General Tidjani and Mayor Abdoulaye were awarded certificates of appreciation by the gendarmerie.
The new building is expected to significantly improve coordination, administration, and operational readiness within Legion No. 20, reinforcing the government’s commitment to public safety in the Lake Province region.
The inauguration marks a key step in Chad’s broader strategy to modernise its security sector, providing local gendarmerie units with the infrastructure necessary to meet growing operational demands.
