The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) of Chad has called for a swift and transparent investigation into the death of Fulbert Mouanodji, a former senior government official, whose sudden passing has raised concern across the country.
In a statement released on August 4, 2025, the CNDH expressed deep shock and sorrow after learning of Mouanodji’s death through social media reports.
He served as Director of Cabinet to the General Delegate of the Government in Ennedi-Est province. His death reportedly occurred on August 2 in Abéché, Ouaddaï province, under what the Commission described as “tragic” and unclear circumstances.
The CNDH, in a statement signed by its president Belngar Larme Jacques, urged authorities to open “an immediate investigation to clarify the exact causes and circumstances” surrounding Mouanodji’s death.
The Commission emphasized that the inquiry must be conducted with full transparency to uphold the principles of justice and human rights.
“The institution insisted on the need to shed full light on this case, in complete transparency, in order to guarantee respect for human rights and the revelation of the truth,” the statement read.
The Commission also extended its condolences to the family and close associates of the deceased, acknowledging the emotional weight of the moment.
“In this painful time, the CNDH also offered its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to his relatives and acquaintances,” the statement continued.
As public attention grows around the incident, the call for clarity is intensifying, with many rights advocates echoing the Commission’s demand for accountability and truth. The investigation, if initiated, is expected to play a crucial role in addressing public concern and ensuring that human rights standards are upheld in cases involving state-affiliated individuals.
