The Ministry of Finance in Chad has issued a firm denial regarding its involvement in a circulating cryptocurrency investment campaign, warning the public against falling victim to a sophisticated scam.
On July 19, 2025, the Ministry released an official statement refuting any connection to a fraudulent document titled “Information Note,” which falsely claims to promote a government-backed cryptocurrency investment scheme.
The fake document, widely shared on social media platforms, appropriates the former visual identity of the Ministry of Finance and Budget and abuses the name of the Minister of State for Finance.
“This fraudulent document, usurping the visual identity of the former name of the Ministry of Finance and Budget and abusively using the name of the Minister of State for Finance, does not emanate from any official structure under the Ministry of Finance,” the Ministry emphasized.
Adam Abakar Kayaye, the Communications Director for the Ministry, categorically rejected any association with cryptocurrency operations, underscoring the deceptive nature of the campaign.
He issued a stern warning to citizens: “against this attempted scam, orchestrated by individuals malicious, with the clear aim of extracting personal and financial information from citizens.”
The counterfeit campaign alleges that investments are part of an inclusive economic growth initiative, supposedly supervised by a team of Chadian and American cryptocurrency experts, assuring participants of the programme’s transparency and credibility. Detailed conditions and investment levels are also outlined in the forged material, designed to lure unsuspecting investors.
Authorities in Chad urge the public to remain vigilant and to verify any investment opportunities through official government channels. The Ministry of Finance reiterated that it neither endorses nor participates in any cryptocurrency investment schemes, and it is actively working to identify and take action against those responsible for the fraudulent campaign.
