Chad’s National Police have unveiled the results of a major security operation, presenting 37 individuals suspected of involvement in a range of criminal activities.
The press briefing took place at Central Police Station No. 1 in Gardolet, under the supervision of senior police officials from the General Directorate of the Chadian National Police.
Authorities reported that the suspects were organised into six distinct groups, each linked to specific criminal operations.
The first group allegedly targeted markets, places of worship, weddings, and funerals, carrying out burglaries during these events.
A second group specialized in forgery and cyber-related crimes, including falsifying vehicle registration numbers, hacking GPS systems, and producing counterfeit banknotes. Meanwhile, a third network was implicated in drug trafficking, further highlighting the diversity of criminal threats facing the country.
The fourth group reportedly engaged in nocturnal robberies, targeting motorcycles and taxis, while a fifth used performance-enhancing drugs to incapacitate motorcycle taxi drivers before seizing their vehicles. The sixth network included various individuals involved in assorted criminal practices.
An advisor to the General Directorate praised the vigilance and coordination of the security forces, emphasizing that community cooperation was “decisive” in ensuring the success of the operation.
“The involvement of citizens in alerting authorities has been instrumental,” the official noted, underlining the importance of public collaboration in maintaining safety.
Authorities confirmed that all 37 suspects would face judicial proceedings and appear before competent courts to answer for their alleged actions. This crackdown reflects Chad’s ongoing commitment to enhancing internal security and combating organised crime, amid concerns over rising criminal activity in urban areas.
The operation demonstrates the government’s determination to strengthen law enforcement capacity while fostering trust between security agencies and the public, aiming to create a safer environment across the nation.
The police have vowed continued vigilance and additional targeted operations to dismantle networks threatening the peace and security of Chadian communities.
