Chad civil society group launches new strategy to tackle modern challenges

In a move to address the evolving needs of Chadian society, a new civil organisation, the Citizens’ Action Framework (CACI), was formally launched in N’Djamena on Saturday, July 19.
The initiative, introduced during a press conference led by CACI’s Executive Secretary, Dr Lekatchang Libenang Alfred, replaces the former Youth Framework for Reflection and Mediation (CAJEREM).
CAJEREM had operated since its creation in February 2018 and received legal recognition in 2022.
Outlining the journey of CAJEREM, Dr Lekatchang recalled its original focus on conflict resolution, mediation, and peacebuilding.
However, given the shifting national and global context, the organisation has decided to overhaul its strategic approach.
“It became necessary for us to expand our scope of action by integrating areas such as civic education, security, and humanitarian issues,” he stated.
This restructuring reflects a commitment to adapt to the pressing realities facing the Chadian population today. According to Dr Lekatchang, the new framework aims to deepen civic engagement and foster national unity in the face of widespread social and political challenges.
The launch of CACI marks a pivotal transition from a mediation-based entity to a broader platform for civic transformation and responsible leadership.
The organisation now seeks to galvanise youth and citizens at large into a movement for lasting change.
In his address, Dr Lekatchang called upon members and partners to intensify their dedication to the organisation’s renewed mission. “Chad and the world are yearning for concrete and responsible initiatives,” he declared, urging collective action to ensure sustainable progress.
As CACI embarks on this new chapter, it positions itself as a crucial player in Chad’s social development landscape—championing peace, education, and humanitarian values at a time when the nation is in need of bold and unifying efforts.
