In a bold move to boost public engagement and financial transparency, the Société de Recouvrement des Créances du Cameroun (SRC) is set to host a major public auction in Douala, the country’s economic capital.
Scheduled from June 25 to 28, 2025, at the Soppo Stadium, the event aims to shed new light on the agency’s operations while offering the public access to a wide range of high-value goods.
The SRC, a pivotal institution in Cameroon’s economic restructuring efforts, has already recovered over 17 billion CFA francs as of December 31, 2023.
The agency’s primary mandates include the recovery of public and semi-public debts, the financial rehabilitation of state-owned entities, and contributing to economic revitalization through the management of non-performing assets.
According to the official announcement, “SRC S.A will proceed with the public auction of the following movable property and personal effects belonging to various debtors of the State of Cameroon on June 25, 26, 27 and 28, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM. The said auction will be held at Soppo Stadium in Douala.”
Among the items on offer are luxury vehicles, designer home furniture—including living room and dining sets, high-end appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, and blenders—premium decorative art, luxury rugs, toys, and various other goods.
Marie-Rose Thérèse Odile Messi, Director General of the SRC, emphasized the broader purpose of the event:
“With this choice to make the official launch a high-profile event, SRC aims to go beyond its traditional mission of debt recovery by raising awareness, informing, and educating Cameroonian citizens and taxpayers on the responsible management of public funds made available by the State to support private entrepreneurs.
We want to bring the institution closer to the people, demystify our activities, and provide a transparent, legal, and beneficial business platform for everyone.
This auction is a symbol of openness, discipline, and modernity of the State through SRC in its relationship with Cameroonian citizens.”
This large-scale initiative underscores the SRC’s evolving strategy to strengthen public trust, encourage civic engagement, and promote accountability in state financial operations.
