
The Ministry of Education and Technical Education has unveiled the official academic calendar for the 2025-2026 school year, providing detailed timelines for public, private, and international schools across Cameroon.
According to the announcement, all public and private schools will reopen on Saturday, September 20, 2025, while international schools will commence classes slightly earlier, on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
The new school year will span a total of 172 instructional days, divided between 88 days in the first semester and 84 days in the second semester, excluding official holidays and weekly rest days.
The first semester will run from September 20, 2025, to January 22, 2026, with semester exams scheduled to begin on January 10, 2026. Preparatory certificate exams for the first term will start on January 17, 2026, ahead of the mid-year break, which begins on Saturday, January 24, and concludes on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Classes for the second semester will resume on February 7, 2026, and continue until June 11, 2026. Exams for the second semester are scheduled as follows: regular end-of-term exams start on Saturday, May 16, preparatory certificate exams from June 4, technical diploma exams on May 31, and high school exams will begin on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The Ministry emphasized that this calendar is designed to provide clear guidance to students, parents, and educational institutions, ensuring smooth academic planning and consistent preparation for national examinations.
This announcement comes amid rising public interest in school schedules, with parents and students seeking clarity on start dates, vacation periods, and examination timelines. The Ministry’s release aims to facilitate academic planning across the country, giving all stakeholders a clear framework for the 2025-2026 school year.
By providing an early and comprehensive map of the school year, authorities hope to reduce confusion and ensure that students can fully engage with the academic program while maintaining a structured approach to study, assessment, and vacation periods.
