The sixth edition of Cameroon’s most structured swimming programme has officially begun, with sessions taking place at premier pools in the cities of Douala and Yaoundé.
Organized by the Association Sportive la Performance Olympique, this year’s edition promises a transformative training experience for children and teens aged 3 to 18.
“This is the most complete training initiative we’ve ever launched,” organisers said, marking the occasion as a major step forward for youth sports development in the country.
The camp’s structure includes 20 intensive sessions, a method the association describes as revolutionary in accelerating swimming proficiency among participants.
Held at some of the most advanced aquatic facilities in Cameroon, the programme is geared toward providing both safety and excellence.
With a team of certified instructors and professional-level coaching, the camp is designed not only to teach swimming techniques but also to instill confidence, discipline, and athletic endurance in young swimmers.
The initiative comes at a time when the need for structured extracurricular activities is increasingly recognised across the country, especially in urban centres like Douala and Yaoundé.
Parents and guardians have responded positively, with early registrations already surpassing last year’s numbers.
While details of the individual training modules remain under wraps, the organisers have stated that the curriculum blends internationally recognised swimming standards with locally adapted teaching methodologies, ensuring relevance and effectiveness in the Cameroonian context.
The Association Sportive la Performance Olympique has consistently championed athletic excellence and youth development, and the sixth edition of this swimming stage is seen as a significant reaffirmation of that commitment.
As the sessions unfold in the weeks ahead, all eyes are on the new generation of Cameroonian swimmers ready to make waves—literally and figuratively—in the world of sport.
