Sixty journalists, communicators, influencers, and media activists from across Burkina Faso have gathered in Bobo-Dioulasso for a high-level workshop aimed at enhancing their understanding of the government’s flagship development programmes under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
Organized by the National Bureau of Major Projects of Burkina Faso (BN-GPB), an agency under the Presidency, the four-day workshop runs from August 6 to 9, 2025, and seeks to deepen public awareness of the Presidential Initiatives through strategic communication and informed media coverage.
“The objective of this information workshop is to allow journalists, communicators, influencers, and activists from the 13 regions of Burkina Faso to learn about the objectives, functioning, implementation, and perspectives of the various Presidential Initiatives and the National Bureau of Major Projects of Burkina Faso,” said Tiraogo Sougrinoma Ibrahim Guigma, Director of Communication and Press Relations at the Presidency.
Guigma emphasized that the initiative is designed not only to educate media professionals but also to equip them to relay accurate and impactful information to the broader public. The programme includes presentations, panel discussions, and site visits, giving participants the opportunity to observe firsthand the progress made under the Presidential Initiatives.
Michel Congo, technical advisor to the BN-GPB and representative of the bureau’s executive director, expressed his appreciation to the Head of State for making these ambitious projects possible.
“These Presidential Initiatives aim to boost indicators at several levels, including agriculture, infrastructure, community development, health, sports, and education,” he stated.
“The results and impacts of their implementation are already visible on the ground.”
Also attending the opening ceremony were Communication Minister and Government Spokesperson, Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouedraogo, and Minister Secretary General of the Government and the Council of Ministers, Ousmane Ouattara.
Ouedraogo called on journalists and communicators to actively support the national development agenda and amplify its successes.
The workshop will conclude with the formation of a Group of Journalists and Communicators for Presidential Initiatives, tasked with monitoring progress and producing consistent, high-quality media content on the state’s major development projects.
