Commander Ismaël Sombié, Minister of State for Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries, urged young participants of the Faso Mêbo Holiday Camp to set positive examples in their communities following the conclusion of the programme.
Speaking at the second wave of the camp on Friday, 19 September, Minister Sombié congratulated the campers for their commitment to learning and personal development.
“I came to encourage you and, above all, to congratulate you for having chosen to come and learn, in these few days with the other children, everything that has been taught to you,” he said.
The Minister highlighted that the camp’s mission extends beyond recreation, aiming to instill practical skills, interpersonal development, team spirit, and a sense of sacrifice.
He emphasized that participants are being prepared to become future defenders of the homeland, drawing parallels with the Prytanée militaire du Kadiogo (PMK) and its traditions of discipline and leadership.
“I encourage you to be role models. After attending Camp Faso Mêbo, people should feel the difference in your environment, that you are a new type of child or student,” Minister Sombié added, urging campers to embody dignity, rigor, seriousness, integrity, and dedication to work.
The Minister also praised the camp’s focus on social cohesion, noting the importance of teaching children from diverse backgrounds and social classes the values of living together harmoniously. He stressed that the government’s vision is for all young Burkinabé to internalize these principles and apply them in their daily lives.
The Faso Mêbo Holiday Camp, now in its second wave, continues to provide structured activities aimed at developing leadership, civic responsibility, and practical skills among the country’s youth. Organizers hope that graduates of the programme will carry forward the lessons learned, contributing positively to their communities and serving as role models for peers.
By combining education, discipline, and social development, the camp seeks to nurture a new generation of Burkinabé youth who are both skilled and socially conscious, ready to take on future challenges.
