Burkina Faso has witnessed an unprecedented surge of public support for national defense, with more than 142 billion FCFA collected through the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP), Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo announced on Friday.
Speaking at the third ordinary session of the FSP Orientation Council, Ouédraogo praised the mobilization as “tangible proof of the determination of the Burkinabe people to support the national effort to defend and secure the territory.”
By September 30, 2025, total contributions to the FSP reached 142 billion 603,529,418 FCFA, representing 95.07% of the annual target of 150 billion FCFA.
The third quarter alone recorded collections of 40.83 billion FCFA, marking a 40.12% increase compared with the previous quarter and a 9.39% rise from the same period last year.
During the session, officials examined and adopted the third management report of the Fund, evaluated its impact on the human rights engagement of Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), and discussed projects for resource allocation to beneficiaries.
The Prime Minister described the results as a demonstration of “a high degree of patriotism and national solidarity,” emphasizing the role of the FSP in reinforcing the country’s security framework.
Ouédraogo also paid tribute to Burkina Faso’s armed forces, commending their courage and dedication.
He stressed that respect for human rights remains central to the national security strategy, noting that the FSP has financed training, awareness campaigns, and community dialogue initiatives aimed at fostering trust between defense forces and local populations.
“With the courage of our fighters and the solidarity of our people, we will triumph over adversity to build a country that is master of its destiny,” the Prime Minister declared, urging citizens to continue their support and maintain the patriotic spirit that has propelled the Fund’s success.
The record mobilization underscores the resilience and unity of Burkina Faso’s population in the face of ongoing security challenges, reflecting a nationwide commitment to safeguarding sovereignty while promoting civic engagement and national solidarity.
