After months evading justice, a notorious gang leader wanted for a series of serious crimes has been arrested by the Republican Police in Kilibo, located in Benin’s Collines department.
The arrest took place on Thursday, July 10, 2025, following a targeted operation by the local border police station.
The suspect is believed to be the mastermind behind multiple armed robberies that have terrorized the region.
Among the most violent incidents linked to him was an attack on April 28, 2025, between Toui PK and Ayétoro, where cattle traders were ambushed and robbed of more than six million CFA francs.
Authorities say the arrest marks a significant step in restoring security to communities long plagued by such violent criminal activity.
“This operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks that threaten public safety,” said a police spokesperson.
The suspect’s capture is expected to lead to further breakthroughs in ongoing investigations into armed robbery rings operating in the region.
Police continue to urge citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as the crackdown on organized crime intensifies.
For months, residents have expressed concern over the increasing frequency and brutality of robberies, which have disrupted livelihoods and sown fear.
The swift action by law enforcement has been welcomed as a crucial move toward stabilizing the area and bringing offenders to justice.
As the investigation progresses, authorities remain focused on dismantling all elements of the network, aiming to ensure lasting peace and security for the affected communities.
