As the 2026 presidential election draws nearer, political endorsements are beginning to shape the country’s electoral landscape.
From Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec, the founder of the movement Le Bénin Conscient, Houssou Victor Adandé, declared on Monday, September 8, his support for Romuald Wadagni, Minister of State and designated candidate of the presidential movement.
In a statement to Africaho, Adandé described Wadagni as a leader with “rigor, sobriety, vision, and a deep republican commitment.”
He stressed that the endorsement was “neither partisan nor opportunistic, but the result of a strong political conscience and a desire to contribute to clear-sighted governance.”
To reinforce this political direction, Adandé announced plans to mobilize his networks, particularly through the FOP-ADANDÉ Network.
He also revealed that Wadagni would be invited to sponsor his forthcoming work, L’Humanité en Éclats, which he said carries “a message of conscience” aimed at transcending national borders.
On the ground, Adandé confirmed he would organize a major support rally upon his return to Benin.
The event, he explained, would serve to “structure our contribution to the presidential campaign and the TDC social project,” while also acting as “a moment of republican unity and national cohesion.”
Adandé further called on citizens, the diaspora, intellectuals, and civil society to “enter this time of awareness,” adding: “Benin does not need a savior, but a collective conscience.”
He welcomed the recent position of former President Nicéphore Dieudonné Soglo in favor of national reconciliation, describing it as consistent with his movement’s approach.
The 2026 presidential election is expected to be closely contested as alliances and endorsements continue to shape the political scene.
