Benin has reaffirmed its industrial and environmental ambitions with the publication of ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms’ (ARISE IIP) 2024 Sustainability Report, unveiled on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ).
The GDIZ, a flagship public-private partnership between the Beninese government and ARISE IIP, has become a central hub for the nation’s industrialisation efforts.
The newly released report, prepared in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, outlines the group’s progress across economic, social, and environmental dimensions.
During the ceremony, Dave Detchenou, ESG Manager of SIPI-BENIN SA, detailed key milestones in the company’s sustainability approach.
He highlighted its commitment to “reconcile industrial performance and social responsibility” by establishing GDIZ as a benchmark for inclusive and sustainable industrialisation in West Africa.
The report also seeks to strengthen transparency with stakeholders, including employees, investors, technical partners, and service providers. According to ARISE IIP, the initiative reflects a long-term vision where industrial growth aligns with community well-being and environmental stewardship.
Benin’s partnership with ARISE IIP has been widely viewed as a model for balancing industrial expansion with responsible practices. The 2024 report not only showcases the progress made but also underscores the challenges ahead in maintaining momentum while addressing sustainability concerns.
As the GDIZ continues to expand, authorities and industry leaders emphasise that the lessons drawn from this project could shape the future of industrial development across the region.
