In a show of unity within the presidential majority, Claudine Afiavi Prudencio, president of the National Renaissance (RN) party, officially welcomed Romuald Wadagni, the candidate endorsed by the ruling coalition, to the party headquarters in Dêkoungbé, Cotonou, on Saturday, September 20.
The event was attended by the National Executive Bureau, the political bureau, and departmental coordinators.
During the meeting, Prudencio announced that the “House of People and Hope,” the RN party’s headquarters, would be made available to Wadagni to host the operational activities of his campaign.
“For the Renaissance Nationale party, your candidacy is not only a strategic choice, it is a choice of conviction, a choice of loyalty, a natural choice,” she said, praising Wadagni’s leadership and his commitment to continuing ongoing reforms.
Wadagni, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed his gratitude and urged party activists to maintain their mobilisation efforts. He also outlined plans for the first working meetings to ensure a structured start to his campaign operations.
Prudencio emphasized that the RN headquarters would now serve as a shared hub for Wadagni’s campaign, in coordination with other allied parties within the presidential movement. This declaration reinforces the image of cohesion among the ruling coalition ahead of the upcoming elections.
The meeting follows Wadagni’s visits to the headquarters of other major allies, including the Progressive Union for Renewal (UPR), the Republican Bloc (BR), and MOELE-BENIN.
These visits have underlined the growing consolidation of the presidential majority around his candidacy, signalling a coordinated approach to mobilising support and resources across the coalition.
Observers note that providing the party headquarters as a campaign base is both a symbolic and practical gesture, reflecting the broader strategy of unity and collaboration among parties aligned with the government.
It also underscores the importance of organisational support in positioning Wadagni as the central figure of the presidential majority’s electoral efforts.
