Ford Kossi Germain Tohouénou, the student who achieved the highest national score in Benin’s 2025 Baccalaureate exams, has been honoured in a special ceremony held in Parakou on Monday, August 4.
With an exceptional average score of 18.66, the young scholar was recognized by local leaders, educators, and his community for his academic excellence.
The celebration took place at the very college where Ford pursued his secondary studies. Attended by his family, classmates, and teachers, the ceremony also recognised two other students from the same institution who surpassed the 17 average mark in the national examination.
Parakou’s Mayor, Inoussa Zimé Chabi, and Minister Counselor, Rachidi Gbadamassi, were present to commend Ford’s outstanding performance.
“His rigor, dedication, and consistency set a shining example for the youth of Parakou,” said Mayor Chabi, who presented Ford with a brand-new motorcycle as a symbol of the city’s admiration and encouragement.
Minister Counselor Gbadamassi also praised Ford’s efforts, gifting him a new laptop. “This is not a political gesture, but a sincere expression of gratitude to a brilliant ambassador of Parakou’s academic potential,” Gbadamassi remarked.
In addition to Ford’s accolades, his science teachers—covering SVT (life sciences), PCT (physical and chemical sciences), and mathematics—were also recognised for their contributions to his success. Both the teachers and Ford’s parents received certificates of appreciation and financial support envelopes, in acknowledgment of their guidance and encouragement throughout his education.
Expressing heartfelt thanks to all who played a role in his achievement, Ford highlighted the value of hard work and belief in oneself. “Success is within everyone’s reach. You just have to believe, work, and remain disciplined,” he said.
The event served as a powerful testament to the transformative impact of education and the importance of community support in nurturing academic excellence.
