Law enforcement officers in Godomey have dismantled a criminal network specializing in the theft of motorcycles, electronics, and other valuable equipment, arresting 30 suspects in a major crackdown.
The operation began on Saturday, September 27, 2025, with the apprehension of an individual identified as HO, caught stealing air conditioners and attempting to steal a motorcycle. This arrest triggered a broader investigation, revealing a well-structured criminal association operating in the area.
Subsequent raids carried out by investigative services led to the arrest of thirteen foreign nationals, followed by seventeen others of varying nationalities, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to thirty. Authorities say the crackdown delivers a serious blow to organized crime in Godomey.
During the searches, police recovered an extensive haul of stolen goods, including eight motorcycles—four of which had been dismantled—one bicycle, 477 mobile phones and tablets, a laptop, multiple dismantled computers and spare parts, as well as two air conditioners, a motor pump, two fans, a regulator, an SBEE meter, a solar street lamp, a parasol, vehicle license plates, and a homemade pistol.
The suspects now face a range of charges, including theft of motorcycles, electronic devices, and cell phones, criminal conspiracy, and illegal possession of firearms.
Authorities emphasise that this operation underscores the growing determination of law enforcement agencies to tackle organized crime in the region and restore security to communities affected by repeated thefts and illicit activity.
The raid also highlights the role of intelligence-led policing and targeted investigative operations in dismantling criminal networks before they can expand or inflict further harm on local residents.
