The Angolan government has unveiled ambitious plans to construct more than 55 new schools nationwide, aiming to significantly reduce the number of children excluded from formal education.
This announcement was made by Vice-President Esperança da Costa during her inspection tour of several schools in Luanda province, with a particular focus on the Rangel municipality, on Monday, July 21, 2025.
The visit forms part of a broader government initiative to modernize and expand the country’s educational infrastructure. “Despite progress still being insignificant in some schools, the work is progressing at a good pace,” Ms. da Costa noted, acknowledging ongoing challenges while expressing cautious optimism about the improvements underway.
The Vice-President emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality education across Angola, underlining the critical role education plays in national development.
“We are determined to ensure quality education nationwide,” she stated during the school renovation visits in Luanda.
These plans reflect a strategic response to Angola’s pressing need to integrate millions of children currently out of school into the education system, a longstanding issue exacerbated by demographic growth and infrastructural deficits. The new school constructions, alongside ongoing modernization efforts, aim to broaden access, improve learning environments, and foster equitable educational opportunities.
As Angola continues to invest in expanding and enhancing its education sector, the government’s actions mark a hopeful step toward bridging educational gaps and empowering future generations. The forthcoming projects are expected to not only increase enrollment rates but also contribute to improved educational outcomes and socio-economic advancement across the nation.
