The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) has signed an annex to an existing investment agreement aimed at supporting the development of a major tourism project in the capital, Algiers.
The signing ceremony, held on Wednesday, brought together Omar Rekach, Director General of AAPI, and Nacer Charab, CEO of the Hospitality Investment Company (SIH). The agreement extends the period of granted incentives for one additional year—non-renewable—underlining the government’s commitment to advancing serious and strategic investment ventures.
According to officials, the initiative is part of AAPI’s broader mission to accompany and support high-impact investment projects across priority sectors.
The focus of this particular project is to reinforce Algeria’s tourism infrastructure, with a specific emphasis on health and wellness tourism.
The planned facility will include a specialized thalassotherapy resort—a hotel complex offering therapeutic treatments using seawater—located in the municipality of Staoueli, a coastal area of Algiers.
The project also includes the construction of a multi-level parking facility to accommodate growing visitor traffic.
Authorities describe the project as one of the country’s standout tourism developments, expected to contribute significantly to the diversification of Algeria’s tourism offerings. It aims to enhance the capital’s appeal as both a recreational and medical tourism destination.
Beyond its touristic value, the initiative is poised to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities while stimulating various economic activities tied to the tourism sector.
As Algeria seeks to position itself as a competitive destination in North Africa, such developments are seen as vital in revitalizing the national economy through sustainable and specialized tourism growth.
